Nominate your choice for Carpinterian of the Year 2025

The Carpinterian of the Year is a distinguished honor recognizing an individual whose dedication and service have made a lasting impact on our community. Presented annually since 1958 by the Carpinteria Community Association, this award celebrates those whose generosity, leadership, and selflessness embody the true spirit of Carpinteria.

The honoree is selected based on their unique altruism and meaningful contributions to the well-being and vitality of our community. This award stands as a heartfelt expression of gratitude from a community that values those who quietly—and sometimes boldly—make a difference in the lives of others.

If you feel there is someone who exemplifies these qualities and deserves this special recognition, we encourage you to submit a nomination.

Are you interested in applying for Jr. Carpinterian of the Year?

If you’re a student who cares about your community and enjoys making a positive impact, this might be a great opportunity for you! The Junior Carpinterian of the Year Scholarship Awards application is provided by the Carpinteria Community Association, and is coordinated through the counseling offices at Carpinteria High School, Cate High School, Bishop Diego High School, and Laguna Blanca High School. The process includes a written application, letters of recommendation, and an in-person interview with our Selection Committee—made up of local educators, business owners, and Carpinteria community members.

After reviewing the applications and personal interviews, the committee will select three finalists. Each finalist will be invited to attend the Community Awards Banquet with two guests (often parents, but not necessarily) and will be recognized for their achievements. From those three finalists, one student will be honored as Junior Carpinterian of the Year.

The 3 2024 finalists were Valeria Zamora Susano of Carpinteria High School (L), Evelyn Calkins of Carpinteria High School (M), and Daisy Gemberling of Cate High School (R). Each of the finalists receive scholarships.
