The Carpinteria Community Association has continued the tradition of selecting three finalists each year one of whom will be named Junior Carpinterian of the Year. We assumed responsibility for the scholarships when the Carpinteria Chamber of Commerce merged to form the South Coast Chamber. It seemed most appropriate that scholarships (and fund raising for the scholarships) was based in our community and for our high school seniors. Applications are submitted by our high school seniors who live in Carpinteria and attend school at Carpinteria High School, Bishop Diego High School, Cate School or Laguna Blanca School. The number of applicants vary each year but ultimately three superlative students are selected as finalists based on their community service, school service, scholastic achievement, and extracurricular activities. The process includes a written application, written essays, letters of recommendation and an oral interview. The selection committee is made up of local Carpinterians active in the community including non-profit leaders, service club members, and educators.  100% of your donation will go to the Junior Carpinterian Scholarship Fund*.  The scholarships awarded to each of the three finalists are used by the recipients for educational expenses such as tuition, books and supplies, or room and board. Over the years we have seen students elect to attend technical schools, City College programs, State Colleges, and major Universities. We are proud of every student and will continue this long tradition of the Carpinteria Community. Thank you sincerely for your support of our students as they continue in their journeys of higher education.

*Our credit card donation processor, Zeffy.com, provides a free service to non-profits. Zeffy suggests donors help cover their costs. The amount suggested is editable. If you choose to support Zeffy, that elective amount will not enter the scholarship fund.

The Junior Carpinterian Scholarship Fund exists to provide fiscal support to the Jr. Carpinterian and two finalists selected from a group of applicants who reside in Carpinteria and attend local high schools.
